What is a air handler?

An air handler, also known as an air handling unit (AHU), is a device used to regulate and circulate air in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. It is typically located in a mechanical room or utility closet and connects to the ductwork that distributes air throughout a building.

Air handlers contain components such as blowers, filters, heating and cooling coils, humidifiers, and dampers that work together to control the temperature, humidity, and air quality of the air being circulated. The blower in the air handler is responsible for pushing the conditioned air through the ductwork to the various rooms in a building.

Air handlers come in a variety of sizes and configurations to accommodate different HVAC systems and building sizes. They can be used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to provide comfortable and healthy indoor air quality.

Regular maintenance of air handlers is important to ensure they continue to operate efficiently and effectively. This can include changing filters, cleaning coils, and checking for any potential issues that may arise.
